Recall checks for child care providers

In Texas, 26 Tex. Admin. Code § 746.4135 requires child care centers to review the CPSC recall list, ensure no unsafe children’s products are in the center, certify that review annually in writing on a DFPS form, keep the certification on file, and post a notice telling parents and employees how to look up unsafe products. In Illinois, Public Act 103-044 (effective January 1, 2024) directs licensed providers to search the state’s list of unsafe children’s products, keep a file of anything identified, and post written notice for parents. Other states have similar rules. Check with your licensing agency.
How to do the check
- Walk each room with a list.Write down the brand and model of every crib, cot, play yard, high chair, changing table, gate, stroller, and piece of tall furniture, plus the toys children use. Photograph labels so you have the model number.
- Search each brand and model.Type it into the box above. Every result links to the official CPSC notice, which you can print for your compliance file. That printout is the evidence a licensing inspector will ask for.
- Document and post.Complete your state's certification form (Recalled.co does not replace it), keep the printouts in your file, and post the parent notice your state requires. Then repeat when new equipment arrives.
